Polystichum moorei

Polystichum moorei

A small, hardy, terrestrial or lithophytic fern with tough, leathery fronds, crowded together, forming a spreading crown. Rare, found in rocky habitats especially under rocky overhangs at the bases of the two southern mountains. From a large cosmopolitan genus of about 175 species, usually in mountain areas of the tropics. Four species in S.E. Australia - some called "shield ferns".
