Blue floating barnacle

The blue stalked barnacle Lepas fascicularis doesn't attach to floating objects like most goose barnacle species; this one manufactures its own foamy float which suspends it on the ocean surface. This third species of goose barnacle to be seen at Lord Howe Island usually is usually associated with the colonies of By-the-wind sailors on which it feeds.
